What was your path into evaluation/ARTD?

During university, I completed units in health program evaluation, undertook an internship with the Australian Centre for Evaluation (ACE) and began a research project in the Evaluation and Implementation Science stream. Each of these deepened my interest in evaluation and curiosity about complex problems. My studies and conversations with people in the field led me to find ARTD – and now I’m here!

Can you sum up your role as an Analyst in one sentence?

As an analyst I support a range of evaluation projects, contributing to proposals, project plans, data collection and analysis and report writing.

What was the best opportunity/ your proudest work moment since starting at ARTD?

One moment I’m proud of was presenting our findings from the Financial Counselling in Prisons evaluation. It was a privilege to share the outcomes of the service and evidence of the impact of financial counselling. It was also rewarding to see the dedication of so many people and organisations acknowledged by the evaluation, and to reflect on their collective effort to improve financial circumstances for people in prison, on remand or on parole. What is your favourite thing about working at ARTD?

I love getting to work across such a wide range of sectors and projects. Being fit-for-purpose means each project workplan is tailored to the program, so I’m constantly learning and building new skills. I enjoy learning from the people around me. Everyone brings different experiences and perspectives, and I’m constantly picking up new ideas and building skills along the way.

What does a ‘day in the life’ look like for you?

I often move across different stages of the evaluation lifecycle. One day I might be working on a literature review, the next I could be conducting interviews or focus groups, and later in the week I might doing data analysis or report writing. I enjoy the variety across and the opportunity to be involved in different parts of a project! It keeps things interesting, and there’s always something new to learn.

What’s something your clients may not know about you?

I grew up in a small country town in central Victoria called Castlemaine.
