Weave wins mental health award
Last night, Weave Youth and Community Services won the Aboriginal Social and Emotional Wellbeing Award at the Mental Health Matters Awards for its project Stories of Lived Experience. This included a photography exhibition, a documentary and an evaluation.
In 2015, ARTD developed the qualitative evaluation. We spoke with four generations of families and over 50 clients that have been connected to Weave since its beginning in 1975 to understand what is most useful about how Weave works; the difference that Weave makes for clients and the community, and how Weave and the sector can improve its support in this area. Thank you to all the participants and stakeholders for entrusting us with their views and experiences to form such a great evaluation project.
The Mental Health Matters awards are held by WayAhead (the Mental Health Association of NSW). The Aboriginal Social and Emotional Wellbeing Award recognises programs, projects, people or initiatives that aspire to and enhance the social and emotional wellbeing of Aboriginal communities in NSW.
